Derangement and concession

July 26, 2009

What gives, archivists? I thought you were all into this Web 2.0 thing. But no one sends in ideas, no one posts on the Facebook page, and no one does anything cool with my comics.

But I have some deranged plans to fix this, including one which I am almost ashamed to announce:

My friends, I have started a Twitter account.

I can hear it now. “But Dee Dee! Aren’t you the one always going on about how Twitter is just a waste of time?” Yup. But to really embrace Web 2.0, you have to go where your users are–and my users, it seems, are all on Twitter.

So now, when I have questions or need suggestions for comics, I will post on Twitter. And when you have a great idea for a comic, you can direct it to me over there (although regular old e-mail still works for that too).

DnD is already the awesomest archives webcomic by default, but I’m pretty sure we can make it EVEN MORE AWESOME.

And finally, a picture worth way more than 140 characters:

Well, what is your archives doing for May Day? SAA has a list of ideas if you’re feeling uncreative.

In honor of Velociraptor Awareness Day, I have dedicated this post to raising awareness of the dinosaurs possibly lurking in your archives.

Yeah, I’m a bit late to the conversation,┬ábut drawing comics takes a little longer than writing < 140 characters, after all.

(For the record: I am pro-comic ideas, anti-Twitter, and ambivalent on the issue of knitting.)
